Event For Kids: World of Percussion, Palace Of Arts, 3 May
Music runs parallel to the history of mankind. The first instrument was little more than two stones picked up from the ground and struck together, sharing as they did their other uses as tools, weapons and firelighters. Wherever he has looked since, man has found objects suitable for drumming up rhythms.

The "playful" person finds instruments in the vegetable basket, the oil barrel, the pair of metal spoons and the milk jug. Everyone has no doubt found themselves drumming on a table for their own entertainment.

In short, anything can be turned into a musical instrument, particularly if these objects are in the right hands. Street drumming was born from the desire to make music and has evolved into a virtuoso entertainment genre in the major cities of the world.

The Sound of Streets percussion group follows this tradition by using paint pots, cast-iron stoves, metal and plastic containers, dustbins, bottles and other everyday objects to make entertaining music filled with humour.
