Hungary’s PM Orbán Wary Of Further Sanctions On Russia
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán warned against imposing strict sanctions on Russia yesterday as he arrived in Brussels to attend a special EU summit.

Regarding the Ukrainian situation, Orbán said any new sanctions on Russia must not enter a third stage, as punitive measures may not assume a new dimension, as that would be counter to the interests of both Europe and Hungary.

The EU leaders eventually decided Wednesday night to expand the sphere of sanctions to include “individuals or entities who actively provide material or financial support to the Russian decision-makers responsible for the annexation of Crimea or the destabilization of eastern Ukraine”.

Orbán met with newly elected European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker ahead of the summit.
