Hungary To Support Afghan Forces With 1.5 Million Dollars
- 19 Aug 2014 10:00 AM
Hungary will contribute an annual 500,000 dollars to the Afghan military and police between 2015 and 2017, the foreign affairs spokesperson said on Monday. Anna Nagy referred to Hungary’s participation in Afghanistan’s reconstruction between 2006 and 2013, as part of a NATO mission, and voiced the government’s commitment to further support stabilisation in that country.
The funds will be sent to Afghanistan under a government decree passed on August 15, to be received 80% by the military and 20% by the police, Nagy added.
She argued that foreign aid was needed because Afghanistan’s forces were not yet able to ensure full stability on their own, after NATO has pulled out of the country.
