Hungary Turns To Brussels On Russian Sanctions
- 15 Sep 2014 9:00 AM
Hungary’s agriculture and regional development office (MVH) said farm commissioner Dacian Ciolos had announced the suspension on Sept. 10, arguing that preliminary applications for aid by member states had exceeded the EU’s average exports to Russia several times over.
MVH said that the EU agriculture committee should discuss the issue without delay in order to ensure the transparent and responsible utilisation of resources.
Hungary had already indicated during the discussion of the aid proposal that more than 125 million euros would be necessary, the MVH said, noting that in Hungary preliminary applications for aid was low and had arrived from only 226 applicants.
