“The time of the family is not over”, Cardinal Péter Erdő said in his opening speech to a synod of Catholic Bishops in the Vatican on Monday. Erdő, who is archbishop of Budapest- Esztergom and head of the Hungarian Catholic Church, said that issues around the family are “symptoms of the problems of our age” and added that the church could help single people find their way to marriage as well as assist “those living in marriages of suffering”.
