Vác FC Match Report: Autumn Champions, Orosháza vs Vác FC
Vác FC’s 15th and last match of the NB3 autumn season was played on a grey and cold November day in Orosháza. The playing surface was heavy and this was coupled with a hostile away atmosphere.

To add to the vistors’ woes, the week prior to the match, Richard Zsolnai, star player for Vác FC was injured during training. Although he made the substitutes bench, he was unable to play. Nonetheless, the match started well.

Within 5 minutes the visiting team created their first chance, winning a free kick. After that, from the first corner of the game, Tányéros had a half chance but shot well over the bar.

Vác FC were in control of the game and in the 10th minute, Captain Rusvay shot from long-range but was unable to test the keeper fully.

After a Németh-Pölöskei one-two, the Vác FC left winger bombed towards the box and the defender had no option but to bring him down. The subsequent free kick which was taken by Gulyás brought a great save from the goalkeeper.

The home team played tight, defensive football and despite the visitors playing very positive, direct football for the first 45 minutes, at the break, the game was level.

Coach János Csank brought on Gergely Kovács for the second half, replacing Tamás Fábri.

The second half was somewhat lacklustre from both sides, neither showing any real creativity or incision. Recently Vác FC have experienced some disciplinary problems and today another lapse in concentration and composure cost the team dearly. Tányoros made a rash challenge inside the box and the referee brandished him with another red card.

The subsequent penalty awarded to the home side was duely converted and the home side had an unlikely advantage. (1-0)
However, this lead was short lived when 3 minutes later Vác drew level, Greff blasting the ball into the roof of the net after getting on the end of a driven cross from the byline. (1-1)

There was a clear chance for Vác to take all 3 points however Rusvay missed it.

In other matches Kozármisleny beat Monor, so Vác FC finished the autumn season with a 5 point lead at the top of NB3 Central Division. Despite being ’Autumn Champions!’ the manager, players and Board must be hoping these lost points don’t cost them the title come summer time.

The team has the potential to go all the way, but disciplinary problems and a lack of clinical finishing must be addressed if they are to hit the heights we all expect.
