Vodafone Group Clarifies CEO Remark On Hungary Unit
Vodafone Group is not considering selling its Hungarian assets, the group said today, clarifying a remark by CEO Vittorio Colao, who told a conference in Barcelona that Vodafone would be open to selling off non-core assets such as its interests in Australia, Hungary and the Czech Republic, if it received the right offer.

Vodafone Group said Colao had said only that, as a general matter of principle, it was always open to possible changes to its portfolio for the good of investors.

Colao did not intend to give the impression that the group had any definite plans to sell any of its local assets, it said.

During the conference Colao talked about Vodafone’s plan of becoming a full service telecoms provider, possibly expanding its business into fixed line broadband and television services coupled with content providing.
