Hungary Replaces 70% Of Top Diplomats
Nearly 70% of Hungary’s top diplomats have been replaced since Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó took office, the daily Magyar Nemzet reported. Fully 60 posts have already been reassigned with 14 more planned until next September.

The ministry said new tasks in a new foreign policy which includes economic interest representation required new staff, the paper said.

The government does not expect the United States to pose obstacles to the appointment of Réka Szemerkényi as Hungarian ambassador to the US despite tensions in Hungarian-US relations, the paper said, noting that Hungary had not objected to the appointment of Colleen Bell as the US ambassador to Hungary.

Szemerkényi is set to start her appointment at the start of next year.
