Legal Feasibility Of Drug Test Proposal In Hungary Being Assessed
The legal feasibility of a proposal to introduce drug tests for teens, politicians and journalists will be assessed by the end of January after consultations with the justice ministry, parliament’s deputy speaker in charge of legislation said in an interview to Magyar Hírlap.

Gergely Gulyás, of the ruling Fidesz party, said he and the justice minister would be going to formulate a joint position and present it to the party group.

All regulations must be in line with the constitution and international legal requirements, which also applies to the drug test, he added.

Discussing restrictions to Sunday work and shopping, Gulyás said they had raised no constitutional concerns related but decision makers would have to bear the political consequences of the measure.

He said a referendum on the issue would probably be unsuccessful as less than 50% of the electorate would turn up for the vote.
