Hungary Declared Free Of Pseudorabies
Hungary has been declared free of the viral swine disease pseudorabies, also called Aujeszky’s disease, in a unanimous decision by European Union member states, State Secretary Róbert Zsigó said.

The decision will ease conditions for exports of Hungarian hogs, but tighter controls will be placed on hogs brought into the country, Zsigó added.

In addition to Hungary, fourteen EU member states and some counties in two member states have been declared free of the disease.

The disease was first identified by the Hungarian veterinary pathologist Aladár Aujeszky in 1902.
