First New CAF Tram On Its Way To Budapest
The first new CAF tram to serve the capital’s public transport users soon is on its way to the Hungarian capital on the back of two freight trailers. 47 Spanish-made CAF trams will form part of Budapest’s new fleet, including longer and shorter models.

The shorter, 34-metre variety of the tram will run on the redeveloped line 3 on the outskirts of Pest and the interconnected network of tram lines in Buda, which will be established in several phases. The 56-metre model, which is to be even longer than the Combino trams currently running on lines 4 and 6, will run on route 1.

A total of twenty-five 34-metre trams are expected to arrive in Budapest until the summer and the new fleet is scheduled to serve passenghers starting from autumn on line 3, the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) wrote on its Facebook page.
