Trust In Hungary’s Justice System “Strengthens”
The fresh analysis published by the European Commission justifies the view that confidence towards the independence of Hungary’s justice system has improved, the justice ministry’s parliamentary state secretary said.

Róbert Répássy commented on the 2015 EU Justice Scoreboard report released on Monday which gives an overview of the quality, independence and efficiency of the justice systems of member states.

The report shows Hungary with a quality and efficiency score equal to the EU average, which means that “the country is going in the right direction,” Répássy told public radio. “But there is still room for further improvement.”

“If we continue on this path, then the EC will have to later acknowledge that Hungary’s justice system is sound and healthy and functioning just as the rule of law should,” he said, noting that in terms of judges’ independence, Hungary is shown ahead of 11 other EU member states—almost all central European countries, Greece and Italy.
