Giant Croatian Easter Egg Exhibited In Pécs
- 2 Apr 2015 1:55 AM
The extraordinary, two-metre attraction was erected in Pécs’s central Széchenyi tér. Similar giant Easter eggs have been made by craftsmen in Croatia’s Koprivnica-Križevci County, on the border with Hungary, since 2007 and the project has now become part of the region’s cultural heritage.
The project aims to combine traditional egg-painting with naive art. The initiative has already been introduced to great acclaim in several major cities around the world, including Vienna, Prague, Brussels, London, New York and Rome.
The giant Easter egg presented to Pécs is the work of four Croatian naive painters. Under plans, it will go on display every year in the Easter season.
