Hungarian Gov Planning Restriction Of Energy Drink Market
The Hungarian government is planning to draft legislation on restricting the consumption of energy drinks, according to State Secretary at the Ministry of Human Resources Bence Rétvári. Responding to a written question submitted to the ministry by independent MP Lajos Oláh, who asked whether the government has plans to ban the sale of energy drinks to young people.

Mr. Rétvári explained that the government has prepared a programme on promoting healthy nutrition, one of the key areas of which is to enable consumers healthy choices of the food and drink they consume.

“Among measures planned in the area is the adoption of regulatory material on the restriction of the consumption of energy drinks.

One possibility to achieve this is establishing a maximum volume for energy drinks in commercial retail and ensuring compliance with the rule through surveillance”, he wrote.
