Hungary’s Liza, The Fox-Fairy Conquers Brussels Film Festival
Hungarian film Liza, the Fox-Fairy won the 7th Orbit Award at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF), Europe’s leading international genre film festival, the Hungarian Film Union told MTI.

The 33rd BIFFF jury and the Belgian audience were mesmerized by the black comedy about Liza, a nurse who is convinced that she has become a fox-fairy, a demon from Japanese mythology.

Legend has it that men who fall in love with a fox-fairy die soon afterwards. In addition to placing first in its category, Liza scooped up the Pegasus Award, the audience prize. Károly Ujj-Mészáros’s first feature film won the grand prize at Portugal’s 2015 Fantasporto Film Festival, as well as the prize for best visual effects.

The picture was also recently granted the Silver Melies award for the best European fantastic film at the thirty-first Imagine Film Festival in Amsterdam.
