There continues to be no evidence to prove that the remains of 19th century poet Sándor Petõfi were found in Barguzin, Siberia, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences emphasized on Wednesday. The Academy told state news agency MTI that there were several shortcomings found in connection with a DNA test recently conducted in China.
According to research the poet died on July 31, 1849 in the Battle of Segesvár and presumably rests in a mass grave or possibly a solitary one in the vicinity of Barguzin.
The Academy said that forensic experts and archaeologists established in 1990 that the remains found in Barguzin belong to a woman.
