Hungarian Police Catch 1,941 Illegal Entrants
Border police caught 1,941 illegal border entrants from Friday through Sunday, up from around 1,500 on recent weekends. Criminal proceedings were launched against 11 suspected human traffickers, and six others for falsification of public documents. Interior Ministry state secretary Károly Kontrát said the police were bolstered by more than 600 personnel at the southern border and plan further reinforcements.

Serb Employment and Social Affairs Minister Aleksandar Vulin told reporters in Belgrade on Monday that the number of asylum seekers has risen since it was announced in Budapest that Hungary might build a fence along the border, Magyar Hírlap reports.

In addition, more migrants are leaving refugee centres to cross the border as soon as possible, he said.
