Hungary welcomes Iran’s return and will make every possible effort to intensify economic and cultural ties with that country, the minister said. In response to a question, Szijjártó said that lifting the embargo on Iran would enhance Hungary’s energy security.
From the geopolitical point of view, Turkey will become a major hub for the distribution of gas, hopefully for Iranian gas as well, the minister said, adding that Hungary should now focus on promoting the construction of a gas pipeline between Turkey and central Europe as soon as possible.
Szijjártó noted that during his latest visit to Tehran the two sides had identified several prospective fields of cooperation, including water management, engineering services and car industry supplies.
