Weather In Hungary – Cooling Expected From Saturday
Extreme temperatures will continue on Friday, with heat expected to reach 33-37 °C. Showers and storms may fall here and there from the appearing cumulus clouds, and winds may pick up during stormy weather. The same level of heat will remain us over Saturday until a cold front will reach the region in the afternoon and evening hours from the west, with strong northwestern winds and rainfall sweeping away the extreme heat in most of the country by Sunday.

On Sunday and Monday, showers and storms will be a common occurrence across the country, as will strong winds. On the last day of the week, temperatures will peak around 25-33 degrees, and similar levels of heat are not expected to return to the country over next week.

Meteorologists are also expecting the current record temperature of 38.2 °C, measured in Kiskunfélegyháza in 1988, to be surpassed as forecasters report temperatures rising up to 39 °C on Thursday.

The long-term and almost uninterrupted sunshine and extremely dry air has also caused Lake Balaton’s water to heat up to close to record temperatures, with 30.5 °C being measured at the resort town of Siófok today.

Measured thirty minutes from the shore and one meter deep at a meteorological observatory, the official figure does not reflect the water’s temperature on its entire area; the absolute record temperature ever recorded of the lake’s water is believed to be 31.1 °C in 2003.
