KSH: Hungary’s Home Building Permits Rise 39% In H1

KSH data suggest that the number of new home completions fell 6.0% to 3,083, while the number of permits issued for non-residential buildings fell 21% to 2,027.
KSH added that the proportion of dwellings built by individuals remained unchanged at 57%, the proportion of dwellings built by enterprises was 42% nationally, while in Budapest 75% of all dwellings were built by entrepreneurs. According to KSH, by purpose of construction, 54% of homes were built for own use and 45% for sale.
KSH noted that among the newly built residential buildings, the proportion of detached houses decreased from 55% to 54%, that of multi-storey and multi-dwelling buildings fell from 41% to 35%, and as several projects were completed in Budapest, the proportion of dwellings built in residential parks increased from 2% to 9%.
Average floor-area of homes put to use was 99 sqm, the same as a year earlier. Based on the number of new construction permits issued, 31% more, i.e. a total of 3,035 residential buildings are planned to be built, while the number of permits issued (2,027 units) for non-residential buildings decreased by 21%.
