Xpat Opinion: Five Arrests Over Migrant Truck Deaths

In Magyar Nemzet, Anna Szabó expresses her disgust that Mr Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Commission, still sees no urgency to confront the migration problem. In an article published in several newspapers throughout Europe, Mr Juncker expressed satisfaction over the positive reception of some of the proposals put forward by the Commission and said a European summit was not necessary before November.
“The Nobel Prize winning European Commission,” Szabo writes, has no strategy to face the problem of hundreds of thousands of migrants and believes it can meet the challenge with a few politically correct and pompous sentences.
Meanwhile seven member countries are building or have already erected fences along their borders and criminal gangs are taking advantage of the migrants’ plight. “The mere thought is frightening”, Szabó concludes, “that the destiny of 508 million Europeans can in any way depend on this man.”
