RTL TV Banned From Hungarian Parliament
- 23 Nov 2015 8:00 AM
Speaker László Kövér on Friday banned RTL Klub television from entering Parliament for an indefinite period, saying the crew from Hungary’s most popular channel had been filming in areas off-limits to the media. He did not say exactly where this had happened, but the ban comes after RTL attempted to record a press conference held in the building by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Thursday.
Only state media were permitted to cover the event.
The ban is in effect until RTL provides guarantees that no similar incidents will occur, Kövér said in his letter to news director Róbert Kotroczó.
