Stands Move Closer At Talks On Hungarian State Takeover Of Public Transport For Suburban Commuters
The stands of the sides moved “much closer” at talks between the municipal council of Budapest and the national development ministry on public transport for Hungarians who commute from communities around the capital, the press departments of the two said in a joint statement.

Budapest mayor István Tarlós and Development Minister Miklós Seszták met to discuss the operation and financing of transport in the greater metropolitan area.

Government office chief János Lázár said last Thursday that the state would take over the management of commuter transport around Budapest with the help of bus company Volán and railway company MÁV.

The state will also take over management of the suburban railway HÉV.
