Segregated Pupils Sue KLIK
A trial began at an Eger court on Wednesday where 63 Roma from Gyöngyöspata are suing the Klebelsberg Institution Maintenance Centre (KLIK) for the state body to reimburse their disadvantage stemming from segregated education.

The Kúria last March stated in a lawsuit launched by the organisation Esély a Hátrányos Helyzetû Gyerekeknek that the Roma pupils had been unlawfully segregated from their non-Roma class members and received education of lower quality as a result of the segregation.

The 63 pupils and their volunteer lawyers are seeking a total of Ft 209 million in compensation, or Ft 500,000 for every school year spent in a segregated class.
