Video: Hungarian Fighter Jets Intercept British Airways Flight
- 5 May 2016 12:30 PM
The British Airways’ Boeing 777 commercial flight was on its way from Dubai to London Heathrow, when it failed to contact Hungarian air traffic controllers. Local authorities issued their highest alert, following a breach of safety protocol which dictates that pilots must make contact with traffic control on the ground when entering another country’s airspace, The Telegraph reported.
Two Gripen fighter jets from the Hungarian Air Force left their base at 12:55 p.m. and returned at 1:21 p.m., after contact with ground control was re-established by flight BA108, according to Sky News.
“Communication was quickly restored with air traffic control and the flight landed normally at Heathrow,” a British Airways spokesperson said, according The Telegraph.
