Echo TV Host Sacked For Radical Views
Programme host Ferenc Szaniszló was fired from Echo TV last week for “excessive radicalism,” Magyar Nemzet reported. The host criticised the cabinet “from the right,” which did not fit the values of the TV channel owned by entrepreneur Gábor Széles.

The management informed him about its decision on Wednesday. Szaniszló had run “Világpanoráma” for eight years, focusing on conspiracy theories.

The station’s recently appointed new management was bothered by Szaniszló’s criticisms of the cabinet. Széles wrote on his Facebook page that Szaniszló is leaving by mutual agreement after he refused to take back some of his anti-government remarks.

“I think he has a job at the Jobbik online TV channel,” Széles wrote.

Human Resources Minister Zoltán Balog awarded Szaniszló the Táncsics Prize for journalism in 2013.

Szaniszló returned the prize following an outcry over his racist comments on TV about Roma and Jews.
