Ian Gillan, who became famous as the second solo singer of Deep Pupple will act on 7th November in the Papp László Sportaréna. His warm up band will be a well-known British band, called Papa le Gál.

The rock legend Ian Gillan is coming to Budapest in this autumn for one unique concert with the songs of Deep Purple. His unique voice is instantly recognisable, this was the reason why he became famous as the second solo singer of Deep Purple.

At the concert we can hear all of the Deep Purple songs with impressive additional orchestral sounds, because Gillani and the rock band will be accompanied by 50-strong symphony orchestra.

The talented musician was born in Hounslow, England in 1945. In early days he was heavily influenced by the young Elvis Presley, as well as Little Richard, Buddy Holly. He met with the bassist Roger Glover when he was 20 years old, and he joined the harmony group Episode Six in 1965.

They learned their trade touring with Dusty Springfield and and performing five shows a night – eight on weekends – at joints like The Storyville Clubs in Köln and Frankfurt, as well as a long stint at the Casino du Lebanon near Beirut.

The real breakthrough, however, brought him to 1969's second solo artists of the band Deep Purple. His hard, sonorous voice and his huge voice extent contributed to the success of the band, which was on the top at those times. Four large disk was released along with four consecutive years: Deep Purple in Rock, Fireball, Machine Head and Who Do We Think We Are.

Gillan achieved extraordinary success in solo too. He played the interpretive role of Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar, the original London studio recording which was directed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. He has twice duetted the aria Nessun Dorma with Luciano Pavarotti, 2001 and 2003. He is still performing to sold-out audiences in major arenas all over the world – 48 countries last year - with Deep Purple and as a solo performer. He is currently working on a new album for Deep Purple.

On 7th November, when he will give a concert in the Papp László Sportaréna, the English Papa Le Gál will be his up band. Gillian’s daughter plays in this band. This band have crafed an indefnable musical style as eclectc and diverse as their individual musical backgrounds.

Circumnavigatng the musical globe they draw infuence from Afrobeat, Latn, Dub, Reggae and Funk. Papa were included on best of 2011 show selecton on the BBC Introducing Mix Tape where Tom Robinson described them as "...one of the hotest live bands ...".
