Tesco Rejects Reports Of Closing Hungarian HQ
U.K.-based supermarket chain Tesco rejected todayʼs report by Hungarian government-friendly daily Magyar Idők that Tesco was planning to shut down its headquarters in Budaörs within a year.

"There are no plans to close the Budaörs head office,” Tescoʼs press office said in a statement sent to the Budapest Business Journal. “We confirmed back in October that the portfolio review of our retail businesses, announced earlier in 2015, was complete. Our Group CEO has reconfirmed again in June that Tesco would remain committed to developing our businesses in Central Europe, including Hungary for the future.”

Magyar Idők reported today, based on an unnamed source, that Tesco would be closing its headquarters.

Tesco announced a year earlier that it put its businesses in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic under the aegis of Tesco Europa to rationalize operations, the paper noted.
