The Blue Plate - Budapest Intercultural Survival Guide By Anna Jankovich

In 2007, Anna self-published a survival guide for foreigners living in Budapest called “The Blue Plate” inspired by the Diplomatic license plate that cruise through the streets of the capital.
The research for the 1st Edition was done by interviewing over 20 Ambassadors/Spouses, covering all the continents - they are referred to as “Tips from Dips”.
They all shared their own addresses, tips, recommendations, humoristic moments and Anna added many of her own personal favorites.
“Whether you are a diplomat, or not, as foreigners, we are all in the same boat and we are looking for preferably English speaking services and shops. Although I have personally not visited all the addresses, the fact that the diplomat shared his/her experience, is already one step up from simply surfing the Internet.
To discover an Afro hairdresser, Syrian butcher, French cheeses, Bollywood dancing, Italian beautician, makes you appreciate the cultural diversity there is in Budapest."
The research for the 2nd Edition of The Blue Plate is based not only on diplomats but mostly on Anna’s personal network of friends and followers from The Blue Plate’s Facebook Page - the subtitle will be ‘Tips from Dips….and more.'
In September, Anna will be launching the 2nd Edition of the book and distribution will be done through designated channels only, not sold in shops.
Follow the Facebook Page and stay tuned to see where you can buy your copy.
“The Blue Plate guide proved very popular with our international guests and members first time round - we can’t believe it is now 5 years since its publication. Thank goodness Anna decided to run another edition!” The Brody Group
