Venue Change: Free Concert - Plácido Domingo, Budapest Aréna, 10 August
During his career, audiences have come to know Plácido Domingo, one of the world’s top opera singers, as a diverse performer. In addition to his extraordinary singing and acting skills, he is also a renowned artist as a conductor, and has been leveraging his experience of unrivalled diversity as the general director of the Los Angeles Opera in recent years. He celebrated his 75th birthday in January 2016, yet his explosive energy remains unabated, as Hungarian audiences will see at Budapest Sportaréna on 10 August.

The concert will start at 8:30 pm. Seats are available on first-come, first-served reservation.

The programme of his two-part concert in Budapest will feature excerpts from operettas and musicals in addition to popular opera arias, as well as zarzuelas, the roots of the global star from Spain.

Young artists have also been invited to take part in the aria recital in August, including Angel Blue and Micaëla Oeste, two singers discovered at the Operalia singing competition that Domingo started, as well as Hungarian soprano Polina Pasztircsák and violinist Gyula Váradi, the latter being one of the award winners at this year’s classical music talent show Virtuosos.

The Hungarian State Opera Orchestra will be conducted by Eugene Kohn.
