GE To Invest HUF 8 bln In Digital Development Center
General Electric is planning to invest HUF 8 billion in Hungary through opening a Digital Development Center here, according to a press release issued today. The investment is expected to be formally announced on October 8.

By 2017, the company is planning to employ approximately 400 highly-qualified IT personnel developing industrial internet solutions, according to the press statement.

The company finds the opening of the center an especially important milestone in its history, fitting into GE’s efforts to become one of the leading digital firms in the world by 2020.

According to GEʼs website for Hungary, GE has been operating in Hungary since the end of 1989, when it made a strategic investment in Hungarian lamp manufacturer Tungsram. The company currently has more than 10,000 associates in the country; of these, 9,000 are working in industrial businesses and an additional 1,500 employees at GE’s Global Operations Center in Budapest.
