Organ Recital By Xavér Varnus, National Concert Hall, 27 October
"Xavér is an unusually sweet scoundrel: he can persuade me to do anything. You can guess how small I feel next to him to be standing here babbling out a few verses after he's been playing so beautifully, it breaks your heart,” said actress Mari Törőcsik from the pulpit of the jam-packed Great Presbyterian Church of Debrecen, there to follow Bach's demonic runs with her narration, in her long-familiar and legendary voice, of Pilinszky's classic poem Quatrain: "Nails asleep under frozen sand. Nights soaked in poster-loneliness / You left the light on in the corridor. Today my blood is being shed.”

Ever since this now-legendary concert took place, many people have asked if the Müpa Budapest audience would ever get to hear all this too? This concert is the elegant response to that question.

During the performance, Varnus will be providing the audience with some background about the pieces he is playing using a microphone for amplification. This commentary may only be partially audible for visitors in the organ seats and podium balconies.

Date and time: 27 October 2016, Thursday - 7 pm — 9:15 pm - one interval
Venue: Béla Bartók National Concert Hall
Address: 1095 Budapest, Komor Marcell utca 1.
