Now On: Advent With “The Spirit Of Hungaricum”
Now on until 31 December. An extraordinary series of programmes called ‘The Spirit of Hungaricum” is opening in Gerbeaud House near the Vörösmarty tér Advent Fair which has been chosen the most beautiful Christmas Fair in Europe. Organisers offer cultural distractions both to Hungarian visitors and foreign tourists through a china exhibition with hundreds of Herend Porcelain artefacts on display accompanied by daily presentations.

The series of programmes is going to be arranged in close partnership with Etrade Theatre, Icon Production Society, Herendi Porcelain Manufactory and Gerbeaud House.

The programmes aim to introduce the creative philosophy behind the idea of “Hungaricum” by putting important intellectual values to visitors on show.

This is the “Spirit of Hungaricum”.

This is the first occasion the public can see this collection of hundreds of unique artefacts and masterpieces produced by Herend Porcelain Manufactory called “Best of Herend” Exhibition in Gerbeaud House.

Rarities, like perfect porcelain replicas of the Holy Crown of Hungary will be exhibited. The decorations and workmanship of this piece is an outstanding example of the excellent know-how of porcelain painters of Herend. Another interesting artefact will be a horsed statue of St Stephen, the first king of Hungary, made of porcelain.
Besides the Holy Crown, two other feat artefacts are pieces of the Carnival series designed by Imre Schrammel , an Artist who has won Kossuth-prize (a prize hold in great esteem) recently.

Both of them are nearly one metre tall pieces.
In the spirit of innovation, a dragon and a prancing horse were created created , fully covered with platinum. These statues look like as if they were made from metal but they are porcelain actually! These pieces of the exhibition can be seen together with a beautiful collection, in which platinum ornaments have important role and where the traditional patterns of Herend (like Apponyi, Victoria, Vienna Rose) gain new meanings.

Beside the exhibition visitors can see special stage performances in elegant, traditional environments.

Hungaricum Podium wishes to move the audience into the Hungarian cultural values, using the whole traditional toolbox of performing arts and aims , values which are intangible and cannot described in words, but at certain places and environments and only in very special moments affect all sense organs in a way that can’t be explained and by which the spirit of “Hungaricum” becomes admissible.

Hungaricum Podium invites visitors and audience several times a day with musical, literal and dance performances .

Among others, guests of Hungaricum Podiumon will be “Jávor Pál” National Gipsy Band, stars of the Budapest Operetta Theatre, like Zsuzsa Kalocsai, Károly Peller and Szilvi Szendi.
