Protest For Release Of Syrian Migrant
- 5 Dec 2016 6:22 AM
Hamed was found guilty of throwing stones at police and entering Hungary illegally last September during a clash between migrants and riot police at the Röszke border station.
Following speeches, the crowd escorted by police went toward Madách tér, where they blew whistles and beat on drums.
The demonstration had been partly organised by the refugee support group MigSzol and activists behind the Free the Röszke 11 campaign.
On Madách tér the demonstrators encountered far-right activists protesting on behalf of György Budaházy, who was convicted on terrorist charges in August.
The two groups were separated by a large number of police officers. No disturbances were reported.
