Budapest 2024 Chief Pessimistic
The head of Hungary’s Olympic bid organiser seemed to give up on Budapest’s chances of staging the 2024 games in a Sunday night interview on Inforádió.

Balázs Fürjes, head of Budapest 2024, said “This ship has sailed”. The Budapest Olympics, “although it would have had a real chance, is slowly but surely done for”.

With the success of the drive for a referendum on the issue, unity has been lost and therefore “the 120-year Hungarian dream of hosting the Olympics may fail,” he remarked, adding that even a supportive referendum result might not help.
