Hungarian Painting Will Be Sold To State For HUF 3bn
The government will buy the Golgota painting by 19th-century artist Mihály Munkácsy from its owner Imre Pákh for Ft 3 billion, Prime Minister’s Office leader Gergely Gulyás told his Tuesday press conference.

HVG says it is not clear whether this is a new offer or an erroneously quoted number, as Gulyás said Pákh’s original asking price was about Ft 9 billion.

However, Pákh told ATV on Tuesday that he is prepared to sell the painting to the Hungarian state for €10 million, about Ft 3 billion

Gulyás confirmed that the state is ready to buy the painting for Ft 3 billion.
