Our Homeland Movement (MHM) will field candidates in all 106 constituencies despite "smear campaigns", the party's deputy leader, Dora Duro, told a press briefing on the campaign trail in Miskolc, in eastern Hungary.
The pro-government Civil Union Forum (CÖF) and its associated Civil Union Foundation (CÖKA) have officially announced a "Peace March" (Békemenet) to be held on the March 15 national holiday. The organization’s leader, László Csizmadia, confirmed on Tuesday that the police have been notified of the plans for the demonstration, which traditionally draws hundreds of thousands of supporters of the Orbán administration.
Key members of the opposition Momentum Movement staged a humorous political protest on Wednesday morning to make a serious point, leaving hundreds of toilet-cleaning brushes outside the mansion of János Lázár, Hungary’s Minister of Construction and Transport.
"If Fidesz does not stop cheating, it may win the election, but if they win because of this, we will not recognise it, we will shut down the country peacefully but very decisively," independent lawmaker Ákos Hadházy said.
