Daily Motorway Tickets Generate HUF 9 Billion Over First Year in Hungary - Mostly from Foreigners

More than two million daily motorway vignettes were sold between April 2024, when this option was first introduced, and the end of March 2025, with roughly 70% of the stickers purchased for foreign-registered vehicles, the state motorway operator NÚSZ announced.
The sale of 1.6 million daily vignettes generated Ft 8.6 billion in revenue last year, far outweighing the decline in revenue from weekly stickers, which saw a drop of Ft 970 million, due to lower demand.
Foreign motorists bought daily stickers at a rate up to five times higher than Hungarian drivers in July, August and September and demand from foreigners also far outstripped that of domestic customers in December.
By nationality, German drivers topped the list with around 304,000 daily stickers bought, followed by Romanians at 201,000, and 92,000 Austrian users.
