Müpa Winter Open Air Season: 'Crystal' , 2 – 31 Dec
From 2 December this year, for the third time, Müpa Winter Open Air, with its lights, ice rink and a bunch of special winter programmes, will make its contribution to getting everyone tuned into the Christmas holidays’ festive atmosphere.

The Müpa Tent, on the other hand, will await the audience with a new production, a mesmerising winter tale by Recirquel, the world-renowned contamporary circus company.

This contemporary circus production conceived by artistic director Bence Vági recalls classic fairy tales with a story of how the mistress of the Crystal world loses her faith in human emotions and decides to freeze everything and seclude herself behind glittering walls of ice.

Together, the audience and the artists in the performance will seek hope in the warmth of love and light through a world of amazing illusions and tricks.

At this production to induce the holiday spirit by the internationally renowned contemporary circus company, the audience will get to marvel at the breathtaking feats of the acrobats and even become part of the circus space itself.

There will be no chairs in the unconventional circular theatre whose every nook and cranny – including the audience – will be part of the production. Thanks to the special stage set, artists will come closer than ever to the audience, sometimes within an arm’s length overhead.

The play, entitled Crystal, will be performed twice a day in the Müpa Tent between 8 and 31 December, sixteen times in total.

Classes participating in the Müpa partner school programme can see this special production at times reserved for them, at specially discounted entry fees. In addition to Recirquel’s performance, there will be jazz and popular music concerts as well as family and youth programmes to make the season an unforgettable experience for all age groups.

Besides the programmes, a skating rink where everyone can take a spin for free, and ‘hütte’ buffets with a festive winter atmosphere will await visitors every day between 2 pm and 8 pm from 2 December.

Date and time:
2 – 7 December, 11 am, 12 am
8 – 31 December, 11 am, 3 pm

1095 Budapest, Komor Marcell u. 1.

The Clown's life is coming to an end. He is about to enter the unknown, but before the 'final curtain call' he needs to leave his collar behind, taking the last steps only with the nakedness of his soul. In this production, the disguise is removed both literally and figuratively, as the performers invite the audience on an unusual inner journey into imaginary realms, where the layers covering and protecting reality disappear.

Oscar and Viola are the heroes of the bitter-sweet story jointly produced by Bence Vági and Neil Fisher. We tend to think clowns equal laughter. Recirquel have already added nuance to this image with one of their productions, and now they go further as they weave the expressive means of contemporary circus into the story of two persons' life.
