Budapest Castle Funicular Out Of Service, 8 –12 April

Press release: The Buda Castle Funicular will not be operating between Monday, 8 April and Friday, 12 April 2019 as the Budapest Transport Company (BKV) carries out maintenance on the popular tourist line connecting Clark Ádám tér and Buda Castle. The Funicular will be reopened on Saturday, 13 April.

Twice a year – in the spring and in the autumn – maintenance work is carried out to check the structural elements of the vehicles, engineering and electrical equipment as well as to prepare the Funicular for the summer tourist season.

The Buda Castle Garden Bazaar might imply a marketplace near the Royal Palace, but its actual nature differs from its name. In essence, it could be more accurately described as a Cultural Palace accompanied by an Ornamental Garden situated south of the Buda Castle. It graces the slopes, providing a picturesque entry to the royal complex from the Danube riverbank.
