'Sekler Cake Festival', City Park, 11 – 13 October

This year, the 3-day festival gets relocated to the spacious green area behind Vajdahunyad Castle with a record-breaking number of stands (30) that represent the Hungarians’ chimney-shaped delicacy. Much to the delight of “kürtőskalács” admirers, the season’s sweetest gastronomical event will be full of surprises.

Master sekler cake bakers accepted the invitation from Transylvania, as well as the area of Lake Balaton and other Hungarian towns.

Édes Mackó confectionery promises to bring exciting new flavours, shapes and sizes, gluten and dairy free, and even diet-friendly sekler cake variations. The traditional, charcoal-oven-baked salty bites and festival foods won’t be missing either.

Nobody will feel bored while waiting for their heavenly, steaming hot sekler cake to be baked, because concerts, versatile kids programs, puppet shows and quiz games are also scheduled to take place.

Children’s entertainment will be ensured by Kolompos Zenekar, and grown-ups can sing and dance at the concerts of The Biebers, singer Péter Szabó Szilvia, or the Tárkány Művek.

Another good news is that Relax Liget returns with the participation of 5 sekler cake stands! Relax Liget gives you the opportunity to skip the line, or at least to not stand in one for hours.

Once your order is ready, you’ll get a text or the order number will appear on a screen to inform you. In the meantime, guests can pass the time by playing fun board games, this way no precious second is wasted.

DIY Stall

In the Do It Yourself stall awaits those who apparently won`t be able to take part in the Big Collective Sekler Cake Making, but still want to try themselves as sekler cake bakers. With the masters help anyone will be able to make gorgeous sekler cakes.

Everyone is invited to prepare and roast their own sekler cakes. One portion of dough will be provided for only 1500 HUF.

The new sekler cake baking set will be certainly available at the festival with a step by step recipe, thus anyone can try it at home, as well.
