The Museum is currently operating in an unusual way. It is closed to visitors, yet behind the scenes, and making the closure necessary, there is very special work going on in preparation for the museum's move to its new location.

Located on the south-western corner of the City Park, at the junction of Dózsa György Road and Ajtósi Dürer Avenue, at the end of Ötvenhatosok Square (currently used as a car park), the new building of the Museum of Ethnography will function as a kind of ‘reception and concluding building’ of the museum quarter.
