Although the Budapest Festival Orchestra has just returned from the wonderfully successful Vicenza Opera Festival, rehearsals are already underway for Iván Fischer’s next major concerts at Müpa Budapest.
This special double anniversary concert will be held on October 25 in the Great Hall of the Liszt Academy. The event celebrates both the tenth anniversary of the Festival Academy Budapest and the twentieth anniversary of the Romanian SoNoRo festival, which is associated with it as a strategic partner.
The Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Centre in Vörösmarty utca 35, District 6, opened in September 1986 in the Old Academy of Music building, previously used from late 1875 until mid-1907 for music teaching. Early photographs show that there were originally two buildings on the site at the time of inauguration but one building has since been demolished.
One hundred and twenty musicians will perform as part of the Festival Academy Budapest (FAB) summer program series, Summerfest at several venues in Budapest.
