Hungary has become the second most important centre of film production in Europe after London, Csaba Kael, the government commissioner for film, said opening the Made in Hungary film festival in the UK capital.
Beta Films and Robert Lantos’ historical series Rise of the Raven (Hunyadi in Hungarian), which will debut on October 22, 2024, has been included in the MIPCOM CANNES 2024 line-up, reports Index.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival will mark 110 years of Hungarian animation in 2025, the organisers said. The festival will give a “360-degree panorama” of the history, industry, training and contemporary producers of Hungarian animation, artistic director Marcel Jean said at the award gala of this year’s event.
Last year, the domestic film industry was hit hard by the months-long strike of U.S. screenwriters and actors, with the shutdowns effectively breaking the year in two. However, since January, the industry has experienced a boom due to the replacement of cancelled and postponed foreign productions.
