Upgrade Of Citadella Begins
A renovation of the Citadella fortress atop Gellért Hill in Budapest has begun. The reconstruction of the fortress closed to the public for many years and now decaying is due for completion in 2023.

The green space is to be increased by 150% to 20,000 square metres.

A public park of more than 6,000 square metres will be established within the fortress walls.

New walkways will be opened and new lookout terraces created for visitors to enjoy the panorama.

A pond, a coffee-shop and a 35-metre Hungarian flag will await visitors.
