Temperature at Record High, Thunderstorm Warning Issued
The National Meteorological Service measured 40.2C in Adony, Fejér county yesterday, which is almost one degree more than the previous record for July 8 in Hungary.

The heat peaked nationwide with temperatures of 33-40C, but few places measured less than 35C.

The earlier record was 39.3C, measured in Budakalász in 2015.

The Meteorological Service has warned that a new front will arrive from the west with heavy thunderstorms today, Monday 12 July.

A second-degree warning has been issued to the entire country due to the storms.

The thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied in some places by gusts, heavy rain, and hail.
