Budapest Mayor Karácsony Collects 20,000 Signatures in One Day
Gergely Karácsony, the prime ministerial candidate of the Socialist Party, Dialogue and LMP, collected in one day the 20,000 endorsements needed for him to become an official candidate at the upcoming opposition primary.

The seven prime ministerial candidates each need to collect 20,000 signatures of support and individual candidates for MP 400, before September 6.

The three parties issued a statement Monday evening noting that the mayor had collected the 20,000 signatures shortly before 8 p.m. Monday.

Karácsony began to collect signatures at five locations in Budapest on Monday, and said that in the coming weeks he would like to visit every stand where signatures are collected.
