Suzuki Set to Invest HUF 76 Billion in Hungary at Esztergom Base

Suzuki is set to invest HUF 76bn into manufacturing of electric vehicles and battery packs at its base in Esztergom, Economy and Energy Istvan Kapitány said in a Facebook post-
Kapitany noted that, along with Prime Minister Peter Magyar, he met Toshihiro Suzuki, the chairman-CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation, in Budapest on Thursday, also discussing the company's plans in Hungary.
Suzuki's base in Esztergom employs around 2,800 workers and exports close to 90pc of its output, the minister said.
The government wants the HUF 76bn investment to bring more Hungarian suppliers, more Hungarian engineers, more research and development and closer university cooperation, while fully complying with environmental protection regulations, he added.
"Hungary does not simply want assembly plants, but knowledge, technology and higher Hungarian added value," Kapitany said.
In May, Magyar Suzuki reported that the Esztergom plant turned out 108,072 cars last year.
A HUF 9bn production upgrade and energy efficiency investment was completed by the summer of 2025, expanding capacity at the bumper, painting and welding plants. The project was supported by a HUF 1.9bn grant by the Hungarian state.
