Magyar Spat On in Budapest - Why He Won't Press Charges

A passerby spat on Prime Minister Peter Magyar on his way to a press conference presenting the Baross Gabor Railway Development scheme, the Government Communications Office said on Wednesday. The prime minister will not press charges, the statement added.

Magyar wished his assailant "good health" and later addressed the incident at a press briefing, saying that his government represented every Hungarian.

He also asked for "understanding and solace" for those "unable to release their pent-up frustration", adding: "They are not to blame for the hatred in their hearts, but rather the propaganda carried out with public funds by the previous government. Fortunately, its traces are fading in Hungary, and we are on the right path towards a humane and functional Hungary."
