Coronavirus Cases on the Rise in Hungary
The number of new coronavirus cases diagnosed has begun to rise rapidly, to 134 on Tuesday from 82 on Monday, and an average of about 60 on August 13-17, according to official data.

The proportion of positive tests has also risen in the past two weeks, to 1.4%, although it still remains well below the 5% threshold at which the epidemic is considered to be under control, according to WHO recommendations.

The number of those forced into quarantine stood at 1,101, a significant rise as compared to the low point of one week earlier, when 731 people were in quarantine.

The number of patients relying on hospital treatment is beginning to rise slowly, and at present 92 are hospitalised, of whom 13 are on ventilators.

Those not yet inoculated have to prepare for the worst, and their numbers are falling very slowly, as on Tuesday only 5,314 people received the first dose of vaccine.

The 5.5 million people who have been inoculated with two doses can await the fourth wave in relative calm – if they are not among those over 60 years old who were vaccinated with Sinopharm, for whom a third inoculation is recommended, 444 writes.

Authorities report that so far 219,000 people in Hungary have received a third dose of vaccine. It is not known how many of those are over 60s who have received the Sinopharm vaccine.

Everybody in Hungary is entitled to a third inoculation four months after the second dose, regardless of which type of vaccine was administered to them.
